Founded in 2004, Sandqvist is a brand of eco-responsible bags that combines elegance and durability.

The three founders want to develop functional, design-oriented and of course ethical bags that refer to Scandinavian values: sustainability, respect for the environment, high quality design and uncompromising functionality.

Eco-friendly bags are made from recycled materials and organic cotton. Sandqvist is transparent about its suppliers; all of them respect fair working conditions and the environment. The brand is a member of the Fair Wear Foundation.

Butler Leather is located in Chennai, India, and specializes in high-end leathers. This is where Sandqvist has been producing most of its leather bags since 2009. The factory is a family business, run by Anjum, her husband Noor and Noor's brother Zafar.

Butler Leather was opened with funding from the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA) and much of its equipment comes from a former sewing factory in Sweden. They employ about 130 people and the majority of their production is destined for Sandqvist.

The Fair Wear Foundation audited the working conditions in the factory in 2016 and 2019. In 2017, the Fair Wear Foundation visited the site to train workers to strengthen the rights of employees in the workplace.

In 2018, Sandqvist began working with Rajda in Calcutta, India. The factory is run by Gautam and his wife Kanchan. In this factory are stuffed both leather bags and canvas bags with leather details. The factory is a family business that employs about 200 people. To guarantee good working conditions, Rajda is certified according to the independent standard SA8000.

In 2016, Sandqvist began working with Moland, now Junko, a factory in Dong Nai province in southern Vietnam. The factory has undergone numerous audits of working conditions and the Fair Wear Foundation audited the factory in 2018. In 2019, Moland moved to a new factory and changed its name to Junko.

In 2017, Sandqvist began its partnership with the SAAM in Binh Duong province in southern Vietnam. It is the brand's largest supplier with approximately 3,000 employees and a production capacity of more than 3 million pieces.

In 2018, part of the production was also carried out in their Long An Province plant. ASG manufactures Sandqvist polycotton canvas and some of the 18-ounce canvas bags. ASG is part of the ILO's Better Work program in Vietnam and the Fair Wear Foundation has trained the workers on their rights.

This is the most recent cooperation. In the Long An province of Vietnam, the company Viva has about 600 employees. Bags made of waterproof materials are produced there. The factory was audited by the Fair Wear Foundation in 2019. After the audit, a number of health and safety improvements were made and workers received training on their rights.

Dibella sources its cotton directly from Adilabad in Telangana, India, where the industry is mainly run on a small scale by self-sufficient farmers. By working with Dibella, Sandqvist is able to source cotton directly from independent farmers and, more importantly, offer farmers better wages and working conditions.

Synthetic materials, including Cordura and recycled nylon used by Sandqvist, are manufactured by Leejotex. A Korean company that produces high quality materials including Cordura, bluesign approved fabrics and Oeko-tex certified materials.

The Taiwanese company Sixup manufactures the waterproof polyester used by Sandqvist, produced from recycled fibres.
